Grill pan bliss

Recently, my boyfriend's sister moved into her new home and was giving away a lot of stuff she no longer needed. Out of those, I gained 2 great treasures! An awesome pancake pan and my very own grill pan! :-) I've always wanted one cuz I always wanted to make those neat grill marks on my food. Admit it, grill marks thrill you too!

I've been too busy this week with catching up on my overdue freelance projects to cook much. Tonight I needed something fast and simple so that I could devote my hours to designing rather than the kitchen.

I was inspired by noobcook.com and made her Quickie Grilled Salmon, nested within her "15 minute shorts" recipes.

So here it is! With some veggies + tofu on the side to boot.

Here's the salmon grilling on my new grill pan.

Ingredients:
salt
pepper
dried parsley
olive oil (or a knob of butter)

1. Rub the salt, pepper, and parsley on salmon filet.
2. Spread oil or melted butter evenly on grill pan.
3. Place salmon filet (skinside down first) on pan. I kept my heat at medium.
4. Flip to other side after about 4-5 minutes. It depends on how thick your salmon filet is. Mine was pretty thick so it actually took me about 9-10 minutes per side.
5. Finish grilling 2nd side of salmon and serve!

Voila!

Mapo Tofu with peas

ingredients:
regular tofu (not silken or it will break apart too easily), cubed
frozen peas
mapo tofu sauce
oil

1. Use a little oil to stir fry the tofu and peas.
2. When almost done, add about 1/2 tablespoon of sauce.
3. Finish cooking through.
4. Stir and you're done.

hehe... so fast and easy tonight that I feel sheepish posting, but it made me happy to get to eat so fast. If you have any fast and time-saving recipes, please send them my way! This busy designer could definitely use them. =)

  1. Grill marks are very cool and savvy indeed! I'm such a dork using my grill pan that the grill makes go straight with the meat and not on that sophisticated slant that real grill meisters create! I laugh at myself; I am so not cool with the grill marks.

  3. Nothing sexier than grill marks... try a pineapple on your grill pan... Now that's sexy

Love your site. I saw you hunted me down, and am thrilled. I will be back whenever you have new stuff.
