Hebrews 10:38 (New King James Version)
38 Now the[a]just shall live by faith;But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”[b]
This verse made me contemplate the meaning of faith. Faith, assurance of what is hoped for, certain of what you do not see. Hoped for... what do we hope for? Answers to prayer, our needs to be met, a way out of a situation, healing, deliverance, a good future, a loving spouse, income to live on, a place to call home, security, stability, ...
This verse in the bible is so direct. It's like, if Jesus were to say that to me right in front of me, I could see my head shooting upwards and me looking at Him in surprise/shock. Because I know I sometimes draw back, and to hear Him say, "then... my soul would have no pleasure in you." would be such a blow and such heartache. Cuz I want so much to bring joy to my God who lavishes me with so much joy and love.
